right, the work continues.....

added a few more bits of bog wood, as i want the wood to reach atleast half-way up the tank (height wise).

been experimenting with the lights, can't really decide yet, i have quite a few different tubes, one thing i don't really appreciate is a massively bright tank, i know it brings out the colours of the fish somewhat, but it doesnt really do it for me.

Will keep trying with a few different combinations.

Some of these pics are taken with a tiny 18W Blue-Moon light, i quite like the effect for the late evening.

Water still a bit cloudy.

i find my fish are much more active in the low lighting, i guess its a lot more natural for them

Looking good!! All you need is a few South American cichlids cruising in there and let your water darken down with tannins

cheers Duce

I bought three pink-tails originally, big mistake, didn't do my research, lots of literature on the net suggests keeping one alone or keeping them in big groups (you would need a big tank), my three were taking chunks out of each other, so i re-homed two, and this one i got now, he's as good as gold, i mean as good as gold, i haven't even seem him look at another fish let alone do anything. If he did decide to be a bad-ass it would be bad news, as you can clearly see his teeth, and he rips up big prawns pretty good!

He just cruises around the upper levels of the tank minding his own business. It was a bit of a challenge getting him to eat intially as he's quite passive and normally misses out on food to the parrots, but he's eating better now, he prefers prawns and carnivore tablets, he's pretty fussy eating, declines almost everything else.

Well by last night tank had been set-up with fish in for 5-days and you would never know there were 8 Blood Parrots in there, they were kakking it behind all the bog wood, only coming out for food. Same for the DAT.

But since adding the Rainbows (13 of them i think), did that late last night, come back from work just now and all the Parrots and DAT are out in the open, even once i turned the lights on.

It's the value of the "dither" i am sure. Everyone looks a heck of a lot more settled with that posse of Rainbows in there.
