Thank you everybody.

Unfortantely the female in the first picture (L. parahybana) ate the male last night. When I woke up it was too late to save him...so she's having all the goodness now.

Wow Domestic Violence to the extreme!!! Sorry to hear that Jess. Will the female just live alone now or do you think she'll re-marry

Hi Lex, they mated a good few times so will be on her own now till/if I decide to breed her again. If I get a sac off her then I won't be breeding her for a few years Tarantulas are solitary by nature, and often eat/kill any other inhabitants in their terrority

I will have at least 3 different species available and a good chance I will have some common starter 'Chilean Rose Tarantula' babies available soon if anybody is interested in veering to the dark side, along with some meaner, much quicker african P. lugardi..female was mated well but also ate the male so we shall see!

All babies will be a couple of quid each or less, of course discounts for AC members

Haha aww bless Tina x
I must admit the bf sometimes has nightmares of them getting out, and god help him if he feels something touch his leg, he totally freaks out! But he now has 3 baby tarantulas! (We had more arrive yesterday..shall post pics ) It's amazing how fear can turn to fascination for most people.. I used to be arachnophobic! But sometimes having tarantulas in the home (let alone bedroom ) is just too much hehehe xxx

Out of 50 tarantulas I own now, only ever had one baby escape, and that was due to me being careless and not putting lid on right!

T's can also be posted RMSD which is how most ppl recieve their spids hehe, so if you ever change your mind, I will send a freebie docile sp spiderling to your son

Hiya Tina, no worries and no pressure, I'll let you know some info so you can have a good think (still waiting on egg sacs anyway).

If you were to get a youngun off me...it would be housed in a tiny container, probably an inch in diameter, and upgraded as it grows, this is so they feel secure, and catch food easily. You would most definately loose a baby in a tank of any sort. The tub I would be shipping in would be an ideal size for a s'ling. As an adult (Chilean Rose) would need a tank/tub about 12x6x6 (inches). A shallow water bowl for adults but as babies you would not need to worry about that, a light misting of the tub twice a week is fine.

yup, live food is needed. I will be raising all my slings on 'Bean Weavils' where possible. They are tiny little beetles, which live in a tub full of black eyed peas. You never need to feed them or water them..You simply 'leave them to it' and you pretty much have a lifetime supply I would also be happy to provide you with a 'starter culture' for free. As they reach the juvenile stage (a few years..Chilean Rose's are such slow growers lol ) you would need to feed them a staple diet of about 3 crickets per week.

Heating - Room temp is fine (about 75f)

No pressure, It will be a while yet before any babies are ready to go, and will make a thread on here when they are, in which case if you would like to talk about it more, the offer for a freebie for your boy will still be there Hope this helps answer any Q's you have.

Haha I must admit Rob, I am still terrified of house spiders, I'm not that bad if they aren't hanging in a web ready to catch me But yes true spiders freak me the hell out It's funny, tarantulas are so much different, and a lot of tarantula keepers still find themselves terrified of trueys, it's pretty common place, us crazy spider folk
