Default Flval 203 *OLD SKOOL IS THE GOOD SKOOL*

Hey Lads,

I picked up a Fluval 203 cannister. The chap I got it from said last time he had it running it worked ok.

I threw it in the bath for testing and it made all the right noises (whirring etc) but no sign of water getting sucked in or spat out.

I notices theres two air valve type parts, I've tried adjusting these two various positions but still no joy.

Is this some sort of trick i'm missing or is this likely to be faulty?

blimey, thats an oldun pete! are you talking bout the 2 switches on the pipes?they should be marked up, try filling the filter cannister 1st then put the lid on + switch it on+ you need to have the filter below water surface or it wont work

Nah a mate got hold of it from someone who knows someone who packed up ages ago.

The seals look fine and overall good condition.

It does have two switches Tel but neither of them are marked up.

It's whirring when I turn it on but not appearing to be sucking in any water, starting to really piss me off now

Gonna keep trying

Have you tried primming it? Suck on out pipe until water is flowing through from there it should work by itself.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Houston we have lift off!

I tried to Prime it....Turns out whoever used to own it decided to drill a hole in a part of the pipe work... once I covered that (or submerged that part underwater too,) all was well!

It's silent as a mouse in the night and is sucking like a good'en!

Thanks everyone for the input.

Rob C I'll drink to that!
