Default Albino Pleco

Hi i was in a lfs today (not my usual one) and i saw a tiny
1 1/2" Albino pleco it was pure white.
the bloke in the shop had no idea about what type of pleco it was, it only cost £6 and i really wanted to buy it but because I'm not sure what type it is I'm not sure if it would be suitable for my community set up. any ideas??? do common plecos come in albino?? size??
im just off to try to find a photo on google.

Yeah there is an Albino morph. Usually they are a dirty sandy colour but very very occasionally a pure bright yellow one will turn up. My brother had one and it was so beautiful.

Pics???

very sensible Tina i admire you, no point buying something that you can't house, we all "go there" sometimes though!

Thinking back i can never remember seeing a picture or hearing about an albino looking pleco that gets over 6-7"

I personally dont think "commons" come in albino variety, but i may be wrong

be interesting to see what you find on net

Wow quick answers you guys!!!
Thanks all
I think i made the right decision not to buy him (although he was soo cute!!) I have read up online and it says that if it is a common they will grow up to 18" How can a shop sell fish when they have no clue what it is, it wasnt even a shop boy it was the shop owner who had no clue!!! no wonder people end up with huge fish they can not house (makes me mad)

i do already own 1 common not albino he is in the 3ft goldfish tank (he was in with goldfish when i bought him)
he was about 2" when i got him and now approx 6" but i have had him for 6 years.

Thinking about it, we had some guy bring in quite a big one a few weeks ago. Must of been about 9" but it was one of the dirty sandy/brown ones otherwise I would of snapped it up! But I'm happy with my Gibbi...all 14 inches of him

But yes I believe they are an Albino varient of the Common so will unfortunatly grow to the the same size.

Hi Tina, at 1.5 inch its possible it could have been an albino bristlenose in which case they usually max out at around 5 inch.

That's what I thought, but after seeing that picture I'm pretty sure it's a common plec.
