Guys,

I've been experiencing problems with my water becoming cloudy. It's very strange as it becomes cloudy so quick that it can be fine when I go to bed, then when I get up 6-7 hours later and its so cloudy that i can't see the back of the tank.

Firstly I put it down to somethnig leaching into the water from an ornament pipework/ bogwood. So have removed different objects each time I've done a WC.

On the latest WC all I left in the tank were the plans and the fish. I did a big WC. Water was crystal clear, yet 7-8 hours later its all cloudy

All I can put it down to is the algae wafers (hikari) or to using frozen foods?

Can anyone give me any idea what might be happening?

Do you rinse the frozen foods before putting them in the tank?

Yeah I rinse all the frozen foods that go in.

I have no substrate in there or any ornaments that could be the cause.

Which leads me to believe, from those links, it's blooming...

I'm going to monitor it closely and keep doing regular 20% WC's and fingers crossed it'll sort itself out

i've had loads of problems with fish keeping but never cloudy water unless it's to do with setting up a new tank and putting sand in.

you'd have to be seriously overdosing the food to have it cloudy like that, so i don't think it's the food.

I have had similar problems in the past.

In my case I think it was blooming.
Just a sudden surge.

Normally this doesn't harm the fish, its happened to me a few times & I never lost anything.

You can get it after a water change, especially as you can get it in the tap water.

In both my cases it sorted it self out within a few days.

Any longer than I would think 3 days or more & I would start seeking some proffesional advice, as its probably something your doing such as overfeeding etc.

I did a 20% WC yesterday.

Woke up this morning and it looks a lot clearer, still slightly cloudy but a huge improvement of before.

All the fish look healthy and well, so fingers crossed the water clarity will keep on improving

No probs mate.

As I said, its hapened to me a few times.

You never know what microbes are in your tap water, the chemicals they put in it don't kill all of them.

They are harmless, water should settle down in a few days.
