tis what i use on my marines dom,but coming from hong kong might get damaged in post mate be a bugger to sort out refund?

You would be better off with a refractometer this is a far more accurate way of obtaining the sg of water especially if you are after getting a very specific sg.

Hydrometers are sensitive to temperature variance and equal in my experience they give grossly inaccurate readings.

The cheapest i found a refractometer on ebay was for 25 alan, i will keep an eye on one which is a fiver at the mo.

dom, refractometers are the best way to go but as youve found out very expensive + then you have to calibrate the regulary too

if youve never calibrated it, then how do you know its giving a correct reading alan? tis the same as a ph pen etc, dont calibrate em then readings will be wrong
