It is, who said otherwise?
I don't bother with live food, you can quite easily have happy healthy fish with a diet of dry food, frozen food and depending on the fish, vegetables.

Blood worm are well known to carry parasites that cause problems internally for fish.

I think you are confusing them with Tubifex. They are both red worms, but Bloodworms are midge larvae and Tubifex are true worms. Tubifex are very risky for parasites and bacteria, so best avoided.

bloodworm grow in the mess at the bottom of stagnent water in the wild,so can + will infest ya water/fish with all types of nasties,if you buy fresh bloodworm from a reputable lfs or supplier youll find they keep it on damp newspaper + not in water! most of the badies associated with lfs bought bloodworm in water is where its been kept wrong, the water turns stagnent therefore infecting ya tank, most of its dead anyway, same with daphnia...best way is to set up several brineshrimp hatcheries started at diff times so youve always got shrimp on the go

You can not tar all live foods with the same brush.

Some are more demanding than others, brine shrimp eggs are extremely hard work.

Its been done in aquaculture for years and the results show. Certain live foods provide young fry with enzymes that kick start the digestive process.

Dried foods are heavily fortified with vitamins and colour enhancers, the big commercial companies are only copying what nature has done for countless years. Again the best before date on the tub is only a guide, as soon as the lid is opened the food is exposed to oxidising and this rapidly degrades the vitality of the food. The same can be said when the food lands in the water. The nutrients start to leach out of the food almost instantly.

There is no point in saying there is too much of a risk feeding live food when you dont have a quarantine facility for your fish. You could introduce disease with your next purchase

'Mosquito larvae from a water butt without fish
- Bloodworm from a water butt without fish'

just seemed like they were labelled as different things..
