Unhappy Help

Hi I have had my tank running lovely so brought 2 clown fish which i thought was a good one to start with! within a week had white spot, used what the shop sold me, but kept on coming back and a lot worse so last night they were so pale and both died, had them for 4 weeks now upset and not sure what to do, how do i know the tank is clear? I have done a part water change but don't want to buy anymore if the germs are still in there... all tests are ok. Help

i am afraid that you will need to leave the tank without fish for 6-8 weeks, that how long it takes \for the whitespot to die off.regards mikk

what live stock do you have in the tank? cos if you raise the temp to over 80 it can speed up the process of eggs to lavae, but micks right, i wouldnt add anything for appx 2 months, but keep doing water changes

we are planning to quarantine any new stock we buy before puttting in them into the display tank.

you should find out if the shop you bought them from has one or more systems for marine othewise the whole of his stock might be infected
then tell him and dont buy any fish from him for awhile just in case of re-infection.

i'm new to saltwater so does a UV system prevent white spot?

does an ozoniser not kill off white spot once it falls off the fish so that other fish dont catch it
