Anyone know.

Thanks

Yeah we have taken two Sun Corals as freebies that were dying from lfs'. They just are not fed in there as much as they need to be. Unfortunatly one was too far gone but the yellow one is doing fine. Is spreading new Polyps and growing like anything.

I think I have only ever seen a black one once. I seem to remember it had a price that would hurt your wallet. I think all the suncorals are on the protection list now???? I may be mistaken.

yes the vodka do work on freshwater providing you use a nitrate reactor if you go to schurans website you will find the instructions to download for there reactor wich you can rum either with sulpur beads or with vodka. The latter works best as i tried the sulpher beads and it is not woth the effort. As for the suncorals i did see a photo of a person who own a yellow, orange and black suncoral but they are hard to get now

Hi johanswan

More questions I'm afraid.

What or where is schurans website?

Secondly, why would I need a Nitrate reactor.

Does the Vodka kill all Nitrate?

Thanks

i do apalogise as i misspelled schuran schuran nitrate reactor. You can google it.By using a nitrate reactor only make it safer.Vodka contain ethinol spirits and that si the product that kills off nitrate. It takes about a week to bring your no3 from 50ppm down to zero, but due to having my clams wich need phosfate and no3 i keep my no3 at 10ppm and my phosfate at 10ppm.I started to use the vodka by adding it to my sump direct and i do not use a skimmer without any illeffect to my tank. The only reason i mentioned to check out schuran is for a detailled description off how the proccess works as they described it quite usefull or to use sulpherbeads one off the two. However i got a d.i.y nitrate reactor wich i used as n phosefate reactor and ive spend a lot off money on rowaphos and all makes and my phosfate just would not came down. That is why i cinverted my nitrate reductor to the vodka with media in it and it realy gave results.I downloaded the schuran nitrate reductor drawing and description and made my d.i.y. reactor the identical same.Sorry if their were any misunderstandings.A lot off forums recommend not to dose vodka without a skimmer but i took the change as the hairalgea took over and my phosfaytelevels would came down and it worked for me.
