Hi there i would just like to welcome you to the site! the reason i have not posted this until now is that i know nothing about marine fish keeping lol (one day maybe)

but as i said welcome and I'm sure you will find most!! people here are only to willing to help you out without criticizing you first,
good luck with your fish I'm sure you will get there in the end and remember - we've all had bad advice given in lfs believe me i could write a book on the **** advice iv been given!!!

you can run a marine setup on live rock only[ie no filter]but id wait for it to become established 1st[maybe a year], then slowly over a period of say 6-9 months decrease the external filters! oh yeah, welcome to the forum hope you enjoy, and i hope ya got an endless supply of cash, cause youll need it with marines

Default newbie to the site

hiya all

thank so much for the warm welcome my new lighting unit on now and it look so much better and the chap i bought it of give me a £112 pounds worth of mature live rock from a tank his closeing down so i now have a who lot of that don,t need to add any more his said as it would be to much it has at lot of feather dusters and tube worm on it i even spoted an orange fireworm tonight i hope it will get though the cycle ok once every thing settles down and i add my first fish i will post some pictures of it and every time i add anything new such as corals and that i notice on the rock the chap give me on a couple of peices it had like a silver type balls on it due to looking it up and taking a look at some pictures and its look like it could have be vanolia my hubby carefully remove them has not to burst them it said to be a problem algae if you think i,am right could you let me know when removed they were a green colour but don,t want to take any risks

have a look at the sixth one down , does it look like that when its in the tank ?

dont worry about your bristle worm ( tough as old boots and will survive the cycling no trouble)
lots of people dont like bristleworms in thier tanks ( very irritating on the skin if you touch them )but they are good scavangers ,
