my life, those are insane readings!!!

Did you buy uncured rock or something????? Crazy!

I'd be doing some waterchanges on that even through the cycle, as results that high are really unusual.

Nitrates of 110 and nitrite that high has got to be detrimental to the LR and any critters in there, get a couple of 25% water changes done to bring those results back down...

and normal cycle on live rock coughs up 10 to 20 nitrates, nowhere near 110!

No wonder your algae bloom is so big!

you reading them test right dave ?

what test kits are you using ? if they are the cheap box sets

get salifert, ph , nitrate, nitrite ,ammonia , kh and phosphate test kits

cost a bit more but are very accurate at this stage after getting the salanity , ph , and temp right , the only four I bother with are ammonia nitrite , ph and nitrate (never done an oxygen test in 40 years of keeping marine and tropicals )

Quick update.
Water params., within limits for several weeks, so a clean up crew ( 6 hermits, 3 shrimp, 12 snails) plus 2 slugs? only saw one early one morning suspect theres another, plus a bluddy big hairy crab.(see other thread)
after a week a couple of cheap Zoanthus added, they survived and grew within a week, so on we went, a Zenia went in next, looking good.
We then added some fish, 2 clarkii that were together in a tank at the shop, with their own anenome's, we bought the lot! Trouble was one of the fish was a bully and one of the fish was killed.
So we now have one clown fish and three anenomes.
We have since added two cardinals, they appear to be happy and feeding well.
Not sure what to do about the "clown" fish, our local shop has some tank bred percula's, might consider adding two of these but worried about potential aggression.
Poor photos attached.

You wander along thinking this aint a bad life, then you get a smack in the chops.
As time progresses we are adding to the aquarium, everything is from the same lfs in Leicester, fish are feeding, no more fighting, corals are looking good, and in three cases spreading, great, wonderful.
Then between 6 o'clock and 10 o'clock this morning three fish die. Both cardinals and the clown. I've looked at them, nothing obvious externally, tested the water all parameters crack on.
This on top of the cockatiel dieing yesterday morning. I thought keeping pets was supposed to be relaxing and enjoyable, I've had more stress this week than I can remember.

The nems were added purely because the clown fish were "living" in them at the lfs. The large one did go for a wander once but its settled down in a corner. I do appreciate they can be a pain in the backside, but up to now no real problems, except no fish!
