in a way yes, itll have coraline + bits grow on it,BUT, doesnt act as a filter like live rock does, also it disperses a lotta water where its heavy! now youve got it, to keep it "live" ya need to get it in some salt water with a heater + powerhead till ya tanks ready,if theres stuff growing on it youll need some lights too

this is what he has said about the rock
It is cured Ocean Rock around 2-3 years old with just few muschroom on it (maybe its something else - I did not check). I used them for a base and I put my Live Rock on the top. I didnt used copper or any medicine at all us I keep SPS corals. This is Ocean Rock not Live Rock
was it a good deal ?

45kg with mushies for £15, bargain mate...mushies cost more than that...what i would do is set up tank asap[before ya get rock]go to lfs that do salted RO[whats litres of tank?]make sure when ya pick up rock you keep it covered with water or youll get dieback which will cause probs with paramaters...maybe the fella could give you some of his water?when you get the rock home and the tank is half full of water dunk the rock in a bucket of salt water to rid it of any debris, any pieces that dont have stuff growing on it place on bottom, stuff with growth goes on top,if you do have corals on it aim to place these peices at the top,if its soft corals t8s will be ok for a while make sure the tank water is heated[maybe ask the fella what his tank temp is + aim to match that]idealy you should acclimatise the rock with growth on it but this maybe difficult?leave the lights off for a day then gradually increase lighting over a couple days, also find out the fellas sg you must match this or any life may suffer from ozmotic shock!try to aim the powerhead at the rock so current flows through + over the rock,no need to go for surface aggitation as there wont be any fish in the tank?with some luck you may get some hitchhikers ie crabs bristleworms starfish...dont be tempted to buy any fish yet much too early cuc maybe ok but best not too till the main tank is setup + been running for bout 6 weeks + all ya params are ok...do you have any marine testkits? if not buy some, dont buy the ones for fresh + marine! theyre crap sailifert are the best make but very expensive...i use api basic test kits bout £20 for 4 diff tests
