duncan,looking at the pic of the skimmer, is that the pump that came with the skimmer?is it an internal pump? if so hang the skimmer on the side of the tank in/out your choice, the pump sticks to the inside of tank,the airpump is then attached to the "nipple" you can see in the pic, there is then the return pipe which simply goes into the tank, you may find you get a lot of airbubbles,to stop this you can get a bubble stop or simply get a bit of sponge + fix to the end of the return pipe

i have 1 nipple on each outlet as there are 2 outlets and the 1 at the bottom you can see in pic does the air pump conect to both outlet nipples ? and the 1 at the bottom that goes all the way up the skimmer is that the return to tank ? it is internal pump

youve confused me mate! the airpump connects to the nipple that is on the water into the skimmer, the more airbubbles the better

in mypic by my name you can see the 2 out lets above each out let is a nipple and there is also a air pipe where the water goes into the skimmer as you can see in pic so does the air pipe conect to the bottom nipple where the water comesinto skimmer or on the 2 outlet nipples lol ?

thanks m8 so what are the nipples for on the 2 outlet pipes from the skimmer back to the tank ?

i sussed it nipples on top of outlets are just overflow if the force of water being pumped through is to strong, all up n running seems fine gona have chat with mate on monday he works in electrical wholesale lights etc gonna seeif he can get some halides lol a bit cheap all i need now is to do sump get return pump lights make overflow box then live rock upn running

sure is tankbuster bit confusing as 1st marine setup think i got it sussed lol couldnot believe the amount and colour of the water froth it collected since last night

make sure you have it setup right mate,theres normally a line to give you a guide,have it too much youll be collecting watery froth,i have mine set so that the froth just makes it to the top of the cone in the collection cup needs emptying/cleaning once every 3 days, nice black horrible smelling gunk

yes m8 think i got it set up right so that the air bubbles are contained and none of them escape under the inner foot all the froth nice n dry very brown but dry lol, do i need to add any thing into the water to help mushies grow etc tel ? hadlight on for about 1 hour today will increase it as days go by.
