Default what about this??

been looking in to these skimmers..

it says sumpless skimmer? does that mean it is free standing and operates (basicaly) like an external filter? looks very technabolical to me lol....any one used them or explain in english how to use them? lol

well I read it twice and it still does not make much sense to me , but im a senile old git so not a lot does lol---no cup where does the waste go ? and you buy extra parts to go sumpless as far as I can make out , may as well buy a normal one that fits straight on the tank without the need for spare parts to fit .

It is a hang on skimmer so has to be at a level with the waters surface you are better off going for a deltec I use to use the smaller one on the link you posted and it was crap! Deltec is much better.

Thanks for the help guys...i am going to go for a hang on one then i think and have it on the side...i will just have too keep a close eye on the kids! lol...so now i have the task of taking the end shelf off of the inside of the top of the tank...i have tried slicing the silicone away to no avail lol...so daft question, but what is the best way? can you get hacksaw blades specificly for glass? as u may be able to tell DIY is not my thing lol....

those end shelfs are there for strength and if you remove it then you put your tank at risk of breking .
can you not install it without removing them?

is there a way i can do that? as the skimmer will hang on the side and need to go 6-8in into the tank to be able to get to the water...if you know what i mean.

ian, hang-ons normally come with an adjustable clip thingie...measure the gap and go online to check the details etc
