A fish rehoming centre is not for selling fish to people on low income. It is to give the fish a good home if it is not possible to sell them. Most rehoming centres will not sell fish to the public. They will give the fish to people with large ponds/tanks who are part of the charity and have agreed to give the fish a good home.

I agree the fish should go to good homes regardless of what people are going to give for them. Don1 One thing is for sure, that the late owner cherished them, his tame koi are testiment to their well kept conditions. For all the money you are going to get for everything, fish, filters, it wont cover the cost of re-landscaping a pond of that size. Plus koi in an established pond will freak out as soon as a net goes near them, if the water is green, you may not see them for days! if they are spooked. It means you would have to drain the pond to see them. Can you see where this is going? You have your work cut out, catching, sorting, dismantling, landscaping. I would leave it all in situ.

Many thanks for all the replies.

OK, water quality is a damn sight better after some Barley treatment, and they can't hide now!

Landscaping isn't an issue - trust me on that one. One of my past times is cage fighting - I'd view it as nothing more than some different training! As I have landscaped a large garden thus far, this would be a walk in the park...

Keeping them really isn't an option. Rehoming is a very distant possibility - the Mrs wants money for them, not giving them away. However, if there aren't takers, then it could be an option.

Berkshire / Hampshire is the area - and I'm afraid I won't say anything else!

Obviously my lady and I will have to sit down and have a chat and see what we can do.

Many thanks for all your time. I'll keep in touch as to what is happening.

Well guys I must admit that in all the years I have been keeping fish, I have never heard of a re-homing centre for fish . If as you say these people find new homes for fish without charging, then you have my full apology for my last post. If you can give me some details of these places , I will happily post them on my forum, as I have a member that is starting a pond from scratch and would be happy to re-home some fish.

Ok having been through the site , if what they state is fact then I will happily make a donation to what seems like a good cause to my hobby. I will add though as a beleiver of the saying that nothing in life is free I am not going to jump in and part with my money , until I am sure .

I will pass on their details on to my forum member who is looking for fish, and wait to see what happens from there.

I will post the results as soon as the become available .
