Telboy as I have mentioned , I am skeptical of any site offering something for nothing . If this site are as genuine as they say they are , then they should be contacting every fish forum on the net. . yet in the 20 years I have been ponding , 15 0f them belonging to countless forums I have never heard of them . . If this forum is genuine then it is a godsend to some ponders , who would love a pond but could not afford to fill it with fish.

If they are genuine , how could they be upset if someone posts their details ? as according to their site their tanks are full

from reading that website i see that the fish were not rehomed into the public for private gardens but more like old peoples homes and fire stations etc.

i dont think your friend would be able to fill a private pond in this way?

the member tel referd to helps in the rehoming of fish that needs it most. he would not post the details as the charity would be over run in no time .

Robert from the way I read it ,their facilities are full and can not accept any new fish . I did not read that they only suply fish to certain sections of the comunity . you say that if they posted their details they would be overrun in no time . Is that not the point of the charity, to find new homes for those fish. ?

As pond owner for some 20 odd years , I have had countless fish handed to me , due to one reason or another . The majority of them were because they had a health problem , their owners did not know how to help them. Unfortunatly even with my knowledge and the equipment I have at hand I could not save all of them . the ones that were saved have been passed on to new ponders. Those ponders were checked out personaly , if I was not happy then the fish stayed in my quarantine tank.

There are over 70 fish forums on the net , and in my belief those who run those forums have the same belief that I have . All of our wet friends are entitled to a good life. For a charity forum to say that they can not accept any new fish , due to the fact that they are full , . is unacceptable .

As an administrator of a koi forum that also helps out with problems with other fish, I can assure you that none of the forums on line would refuse to help out, should a charity contact them asking for help.

So the question is, why are they not contacting us .

"All of our wet friends are entitled to a good life. telboy of course I would not expect them to take more fish if they were full, that would be a recipe for disaster. what I am saying is that if they opended up to the many Koi forums and Koi clubs that are around , they would not have full tanks. More fish could then be found good homes .

Well guys I keep looking in, but there does not seem to be anyone posting

I will add one more thing to this thread and then I will leave it at that .

My job takes me all over the south of England , during my travels I have come across many companies that have ponds , or in the case of todays travels what can more be described as a lake.
It was aproximatley 200' x 60' and held aproximatly 300 Koi of all shapes and sizes. The fact that they all made a bee line for me when I went to take a look, informed me that these were being fed on a daily basis. (despite the fact that the water they were homed in ,they could have survived without human interaction. )

My feelings were confirmed as I was leaving, as there was the receptionist throwing in handfuls of food. As a person that has an intererest in Koi, I stopped for a chat, this is what I found out. The larger of the Koi some 23' in size were donated by a charity ( for a small handling fee) . the smaller ones are all offsprings from those fish. I commented on the fact that there were a number of very nice koi in the pond ( not show winners but nice all the same).
I pointed out to the young lady concerernd the different types of koi that were there, Shagoi, Becko, Ogons and a fair number of other combinations.

Having seen a large number of fish with Ulcers, finrot and eye infections to name just a few problems , I had to ask "so who actualy looks after the fish" ? This question drew a blank , as far as she was aware ( and she had been there as long as the company had ) no one actualy looks after the fish . They have gardeners in that tend the reeds and other areas of the lake , but apart from her feeding them everyday, no one goes near it. Those fish either survive by chance or die.

That lake could have been filled with allsorts of wild fish and they would have survived without man's intervention, but sadly common fish do not give the same atraction to visitors, hence the reason they stock them with Koi and Goldies ( at a cheap price) .

Fish forums and clubs are run by those of us, that are devoted to looking after not only our own fish, but those of our members. We recieve not a penny for our time , we do it because we care , so I ask the question again

Why are those that state they are re-homing fish not talking to us.
