well i got my big one (well its not massive but is about 6") with a tank several months ago, i never intended to keep parrots, but fell in with it, so went looking for other "red" or deep-orange coloured parrots. Ended up getting them from a variety of places over the best part of 1-2 months.

Lots of peeps were saying you cant keep too many which is BS really, as having quite a few dilutes any agression, but as you prob know its all just banter with them in a group, pushing each other around sometimes thats it

I think i have 8 altogether, couple were from Maidenhead Aquatics and the rest from a variety of small LFS, actually i got 2 stunners from an LFS in Edmonton, just off the North Circ.

The big one jumps out the water for food, especially prawns.

They are incredibly responsive following me around the lounge (well in the tank obviously, lol)

well the most i paid for one of them is about £15, most of them i was quite lucky and got in the £8-£10 range

If someone offered me a £100 for the 6" i'd say no honestly.

My big one loves water changes, he's always at the front waiting for the water to be tipped in from the buckets whilst all the other fish are nervously lurking around the back of the tank!

I do 40% water changes a week and feed them a very varied diet of all the "alleged" best foods really, like hikari, thawed prawns, other frozen stuff and also some mussell but it gets a bit messy. The tank is also over-filtered with Eheims big-time.

They will nibble on courgette but if i put a block of it in and weigh it down the big one just guards it from all the other parrots like he's guarding eggs lol, he will let the Bristlenose eat it and suck on it though. I am going to try and get a video clip of him guarding the courgette from 7 other parrots, makes me giggle everytime!

I scrape bits of courgette off now and drop it in and they will eat it, especially if they havent eaten for over 24 hrs.
