Can anyone give me there opinions on housing my jd and gt together in a 4foot tank, jd is in the tank already with 2pretty small silversharks and doesn't bother with them and seems pretty placid, gt is a bit of a bugger and has started to pick on my severum, jd is atleast a couple of inches bigger. Look forward to hearing your views..

Not a combo I've ever tried myself, so couldn't say, if it was me however, I would chance it, and keep and eye on them.

I have done it many times in a 5foot tank with no uniform result, its a hit and miss, both fish can be aggressive and territorial.

JD's have a reputation for being very agressive. It is well known as being one of the most aggressive American Cichlids hence being named after the Heavyweight Boxer, Jack Dempsey. I have know some to be very placid but then others are very aggressive so if you were to give it a try, then be careful and any signs of aggression, remove the GT.

GT's themselves can be aggressive too but nothing like a large male JD.

some might say that the JD is a very aggressive fish but if you look up and have owned other not so common Central America Cichlids you will find out that the good old JD is a light weight as far as big bad Cichlids go.

If I had a fully grown male aggro JD I would not fancy his chances with these guys.

and I would say that the P. Dovii or the common mix of labiatus/citrinellus would be on top for the most aggressive CA Cichlid.

Would have to agree, I had a 6" JD that took a beating from a 5" female brown acara, fish was never the same after that and a young 4" pair that were destroyed by 2" salvini females. They can be aggressive, but in the grand scheme of things, maybe not so deserving of their name.

what were u keeping ure JD's with??? guppy's?? JD's are placid as far as it goes with big bad centrals as bolty said.

id eat my shorts the day i seen a JD beating on centrals the way ure saying, IMO con's could take on JD's

JD's are aggressive but nothing liek your saying seriously man get ureself a parachromis and put him in with ure jd then we'll see who's kicking who.
