Hi!!!

I am new to this site and new to Discus keeping. I have become hooked and dont even have one yet!!!!

I am looking to get a few discus very soon for my tank and find the pet shops in Scotland to be very overpriced. I have since found a site that sells discus which are delivered to your door.

The discus are fed shrimp, starved for 24 hours, stress coated? and then tripple bagged, put in polystyrene box with heat pad, then into cardboard box and sent by courier.

Firstly i am worried about the stress this inflicts, and the possibility of disease outbreaks etc. I just want general opinions on mail order fish and if anyone has experience of doing it this way. The prices are majorly different through this site than in my petshop.

The only worry i have is they will be travelling for many hours bagged like that. They are coming from Surrey i believe to just beside Edinburgh. They are being sent by an overnight courier, but i am just a little dubious.

Think about fish being shipped from the Far East, (as many of the fish in fish shops are) most come through fine. Discus shippers know what they are doing and there is very rarely any loses.
