Well i dont use a flash .......only tank lights and i use the camera a Olimpus compact 8meg set on super macro, think of what i could do with a digital slr with overhead flash.............my fish are what i call petshop fish

You can use an overhead flash with your compact mate, I use one with my point and shoot, you just need to deflect the onboard flash to a sensor for the overhead one. But I hear ya, would love to try out a digi slr.
