the only thing i can think woud be to get 1 or better 2 thermomiters. place them around the tank. do this before adding your fish.

by having 2 you can check them against one another! I am not a fan of the stick on strip ones as they change colour and can be hard to determing the temp.

just searched this for you online.is your heater new?

Operating the heater

The water temperature is controlled by the adjustment knob in the heater head. According to your individual requirements you can adjust the temperature by turning the adjustment knob towards the '+' or the '-' marks. Positioning the knob in the middle will generate a temperature of approximately 26 degrees C.

Please note that it will take approximately 12 hours for the heater to heat the water to the desired temperature. Thereafter it will automatically control the temperature by switching on as required. You will notice that the heater is operational by the glowing of a red light.

It is recommended that you check the temperature of the water regularly to ensure that the heater is still operating properly. If you find that the heater is no longer providing enough heat to contain the desired temperature, please replace it. Do not attempt a repair.

It is also recommended that you check the glass tube of the heater regularly for any signs of cracks. If you find the tube to be damaged, replace the heater.
