well over the years I have had quite a few disasters , to many to mention them all, so hears a few, when I first started off I set up a 4 ft community tank ,lost a few fish , learnt a bit more restocked and everything settled down, I put this first tank, in the old lean to at the back of the house, every thing was fine for months, then one extremely hot day after work went to feed the fish arghhh they were all dead, the water had got so hot in there that it had become impossible for the fish to survive(lesson one dont put a tank in a leanto with a plastic roof or conservatory )todays prices around £50.00 -------2 xheater thermostat malfunctions on tropical tanks cost in fish about £100.00 -1 heater thermostat malfunction in marine tank cost around 250.00 in fish and because in my younger days had a bit of a temper about £350.00 for smashing up my tank and equipment and packing it all in for a number of years ( and about £60.00 for a new carpet cause the mrs was well pleased having a horrible soaking deadfish smelling carpet in her best room) lol also I had stacked a couple of fishtanks out the back under the window and covered them with a tarpaulin for future use they had been there a few years and I had forgotten all about them , one day I decided I was going to set up some more breeding tanks upstairs took the cover off 4 broken tanks then I realised they must have been broken when I had had my windows changed a couple of years previously and they must have broken them cost around £200.00 my latest disaster was when I set up this new tank, it had been running for six weeks every thing fine ,I was on the computer looking at the forum when the electric blew ,I went downstairs turned it on again and could hear a noise went into the best room and started walking through water the bottom hose had come off the sump return pump and the pump was spraying the sump water onto the top of the stand ,the water was then running out all over the floor , fixed it, mopped up and had the customary warning off the mrs (as you do ) ,any more mishaps the tank goes have good quality laminate down and everything has dried so no cost touch wood lol.

WHO SAID FISHKEEPING WASNT EXCITING ? THE MRS HAS NEARLY THROTTLED ME A NUMBER OF TIMES BECAUSE OF ALL MY MISHAPS LOL
