Fry Lover did I see Frontosas in you tank or were they ones who look like fronts but are not. I hope that makes some sense. I have 2 male Fronts that I need to relocate to another tank would they be OK with Malawis.

Hi Bethan
I dont have Fronts, they are Tang Cichlids that look like Fronts.
I always read about people advising not to mix Frontosa and Malawi, but Malawi enthusiasts are often saying you cant mix this and that. I am not saying to ignore the advice, just be cautious and read up etc
It's dietary requirements you should really look into as well as agression levels and tank size etc

Thank you Fry Lover did a bit more reading and they are not compatible when it comes to dietary requirements even though they would have gone into a Malawi tank that is 6x2x2. This tank is my growing on tank so the cichlids are all different species and sizes. Bethan

I have a large 8" Burundi Front in with my Malawis and hes fine. The dietary requirements are different but I feed him different food to the Malawi through piece of pipe.
When hes in his cave, I drop NLS pellets or prawns down one end of the pipe and he grabs them when they come out the other.

generally frontosa`s are ok with mbuna`s if u have them in small group so the aggresion is distributed between the group and not the other fish. i had no probs with that and they looked really cool
