stunning looking fish,
but surely line breeding and selective breeding is on a par with flourescent gravel, backgounds of roman ruins and air dispensers designed to look like alien ships with bright lights !
my tanks have all been set to look as natural as a tank can look (obviously keeping african lake fish in a tank in my front room in taunton is never going to be completely natural) and the enjoyment i get comes from seeing these stunning fish interact in what we assume is almost natural behaviour.
Although not a purist by any stretch ( i strip the fry and use asthetically pleasing set ups and feed flake and pellet food not naturally occuring algae and invertebraes) ican appreciate that when we interfere with these fish, what may be created may look great but do we have any real knowledge of behaviours and long term implications.
In an extreme example is this not almost a form of fish genocide !!
