It depends on screen size, I have the same 'problem' on my laptop. Not sure if there's anything that can be done by Webbie.

did think about that, the site just didnt seem to look right with 100% width (you would only see this on higher res screens)

I'd leave it how it is to be honest - I'd rather it be too small for me than too big for other people. Having to scroll sideways is a pain when reading a thread.
Still think threads should be paged though, but I know not everyone agrees.
