Computer Question please
Is there a way i can find out what Graphics card / video card my PC has in it?
I am thinking about ordering a game for my son, but i dont want to waste my money, as i am not sure if my PC will support the game, i havent done a lot of gaming on my Dell PC, and i am aware that if your PC doesnt have a good enough graphics card it doesnt matter about your Ram or processor speed, the game will be messed up
Does this make sense?
Is a graphics card / video card the same thing?
The game is Resident Evil 4 on a PC
My PC is a Dell, 1.25GB ram (i upgraded from 256mb), 80gb hard drive, 2.80ghz processor (Penium 4), computer is about 5 years old.
But like i said, its the specs of the graphics card that i think is important for arcade type PC games?
Please advise!

Fry go to "My computer" then on the left there should be a tab saying "view system information" go to that then click on "hardware" then click on "device manager" this will display every component in your pc.
you have to click the little "+" next to the name for full details.
go see what you got then post back telling us what it is

whip out your tool (screwdriver) and take the case off your tower and have a look inside ! or dig out the old instruction/spec if you bought it new? or perhaps search details of the installed details in a google search?
what was the model Alex?

found these bits and bobs from a quick Google search, not sure how useful they are
I'm trying to get a new video card for my Dell Dimension 2400, which has video (64mb Intel) pre-integrated into the motherboard.
Now, the kicker is that the Dimension 2400 only has PCI ports. Being not too computer-innards knowledgable, I bought a 256mb PCI-E card that didn't fit into my motherboard at all.
Are there any decent PCI video cards out there that can offer good performance in conjunction with plenty of RAM or is it time to get a new computer
Hi.
I have a Dell Dimension 2400 (service tag can be supplied on request
if needed) with an integrated Intel video chip. I want to be able to
play games like Sid Mier's Pirates!, or the new Civilization 4 that
will be out soon, or Dungeon Siege II, etc. Nothing like Doom or Halo
2 or other fancy and graphic-heavy games. Therefore, I want to buy a
video card for my computer, but something basic and not expensive.
What video card should I get? I really just want to be able to play
these games, even with all the fancier effects turned off, I don't
really mind those. Price is my main concern. So, my question therefore
is:
Is it possible to upgrade the video card in a Dell computer? My father in law has a Dell Dimension 2400 and he got several games for Christmas; IL-2, Pac Fighters, Lo-Mac and FS X. The video card is a 64 MB onboard Intell. Can we upgrade to a high end card?
Looks like my video card might be a 64 MB onboard Intell, which doesn't sound too cool (the 64mb bit)
oh fudge it, i think i just to assume its a 64 MB onboard Intell and see if any PC knowledgeable peeps want to give me a "best bet" on whether it's worth getting this game for my son
There is no money for a graphics card upgrade, i can't even go into that direction, can't do these kind of luxuries at the momemt!

is is a sad state where you can get a new computer for what it would cost to upgrade your old one!......i get the best i can afford then make it last 5to 7 years then replace the tower only!

If you go here
http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srtest
select the game and let it all run, it will tell you whether your PC meets the minimum specs required and as a bonus will tell you whats inside ya PC also !
Hope this helps

Fry mate, are you sure that your card slot isnt an AGP. usually if a pci express wont fit it means its an AGP supported card. AGP isnt as expensive as pci neither as good come to think of it.
If your pc is AGP, give me a shout and i will send you my old card which will run the game....
