Default the cost of living?

I see some house prices are starting to fall and rent is on the increase
me and the wife would love to get on the property ladder but it realy seams a struggle.
looking at morgauge of £900 a month is a hell of a jump from the rent we have been paying .
life these days seams to be harder than ever!
you get to save on something and the next thing down the list increases
is it just me or does everyone say the same?

ok rant over as the wife has seen a house across the street the wants

I'm lucky to have managed to get on the ladder in 02 cost me £130K though! Me and the old dear stretched ourselves for our first house so it was a house in theory we would never need to move from.

Value had gone up to about £225,000 which is stupid for a 3 bed terrace but about £200,000 would be a better estimate at the moment!

Fortunately we are on a fixed rate at 5.39% at the moment but absolutely bricking ourselves about when the fixed rate runs out next April!!!!!!!! We are looking at least an increase of 1% probably closer to 1.5% on a mortgage on about £118k.

Its an increase of about £80-100 a month!!!!!!!! Can manage it but it will be tight not happy at least we shouldn't be at risk from negative equity!

Everything else is silly money now too absolutely everything is going up except my poxy pay!!!!!!!!

I honestly dont know how you young people manage , house prices are just plain crazy I bought my first house in 1972 for £ 2,800 moved in 1975 paid £4,000 for that one and moved in 1982 and paid £19,000 for this one ,highest monthly mortgage £110 a month ( which was hard for the last five years on it, as I was only recieving £80 a week incapacity benefit and also had to find £1100full rates ) thankfully I had some savings so I managed , its mine now and worth about £180,000, but there is no way I could have got on the property market today with the wages I was recieving prior to finishing (£ 12,500annually.

cost of a one bedroom flat around here is about 600-750 per month (thats before your bills) and we all know council tax is a big one

and you can buy one a bit further up the valleys price range £60.000 to £100.000 depending on the locality
