Default Help with my dragon

When ever i go to pick up my baby dragon he tries to run off!... i try my best to catch him as much as i can then stroke him and let him run around my bed.

i am wondering if this is normal with beardies(he is 8 weeks old)

i was told i should take him out every day to tame him for later life, His diet consists of only cricets at the moment with calcium powder. the temperatures are good within the terranium and the light is on for 12 hours a day.

If anyone can help that would be great, thanks a lot!

best thing to do is just sit there with ya hand in the viv + let him/her come to you, dont chase it round this will cause stress, be patient, also you should be feeding dusted veg more than crickets for beardies

Tel has said it all really...at 8 weeks though most beardies prefer a more insectivorous diet...try hand feeding his crix and also offer cress, that is one of the only veg my babies would eat...he will come round in time, i wouldnt chase him around and stress him out...let him acclimatise to his vivarium and you...dont worry he is still VERY young and will soon learn to see you as his provider of food etc, it all takes time...but after a few months he will soon be happy to come out and sit happily with you and enjoy a stroke... by the time he is 6-8 months old you want to aim for a diet of roughly 65-70% veg and 35-30% insects.....i.e offer dusted veg daily and dusted crix/locust every 2-3 days nutrobal is the best vitamin dust IMO and if you alternate it with calypso powder all the better (say nutrobal 3 out of 4 feedings and calypso on the 4th)

yep ians right bout the crickets[i misread the weeks as inches DER]make sure the crickets are no bigger than the gap betwixt its eyes, apparently curly kale is good for them along with cress + thinly sliced carrot

kale is good yes..but in small amounts, as it can actualy bind up calcium and prevent them from absorbing it! the best greens i found is cress (normal and watercress), romain lettuce, dandelion leaves (and flowers) a bit of kale, some shredded carrot (although mine would never eat it lol) a little bit of chopped cu***ber (little nutritional value but helps keep them hydrated) rocket is also good in small amounts...there are loads more but cant think of them all now lol....

Thanks chaps for the help, i leave grapes and a bit of veg in his tank all the time but he doesnt seem to bother with it unless he just nibbles, in terms of chasing him around he is a funny lizard, somedays he will willingly stand on my hand. But at other times he just scarperes off into his corner.

random sod.

Thanks again!

I think handling him most days is good, aslong as he doesn't seem to stressed.
Baby beardies at 8 weeks are very scatty lol!
Will regular handling he should turn out to be a really placid one like most of the adults you see
Good luck
