More snakes!
Two new additions:
First up, a young 09 female anery stripe cornsnake, her name is Pearl.
Have to say it's a real breath of fresh air her being so tame.
Also rehomed this moody mare from what seemed to be good owners. When they dropped her off, despite telling me they had her since a baby and was puppy dog tame, were percievably terrified of her and looked horrified when I just picked her straight up. Everytime she turned her head the fella recoiled in fear They were desperate to get rid of her. I think its clear to see why lol..
As you can see she is a right stroppy mare. Haven't really got a feel for her temperement yet, but it's not a problem for me, I'm used to angry snakes lol. She is absolutely beautiful though. She is a normal corn snake. I must admit I expect problems of any sort when taking in animals that people are desperate to get rid of, but I'm a bit annoyed at them lying about her. I don't care whether she bites me everytime I go in her cage or not... luckily for her. I'm glad she's with me, while I think they had the best intentions the owners seemed a bit clueless. Dropped her off and said she was a 'weird feeder' (something that should be told to possible owners beforehand I think!) in that you have to shake the mouse and she coils around it. Basically stimulating live prey and then, being a constrictor she will constrict it (go figure!!). Suffice to say this is the behaviour of a perfectly healthy snake..I'm just glad she's with someone who has a clue, poor thing.
Hope you like, hoping to get some more recent photo's of all the snakes soon if anyone is interested

Great pics jess, keep them coming. How many snakes etc do you have? Are they in a room which you have lots of set ups?

Absolutely not! She is a pure bred corn snake. Corn snakes are just a subspecies of rat snakes which is why they look so similar anyway; but in the way you mean; not at all. She looks different because there are lots more morphs (genetic mutations) being discovered, created and bred now, hers is Anery Stripe. I believe anerys were around a decade ago but not the stripe. Corn and rat snake hybrids are rife in the hobby though; and many don't even know they have them (generally the less experienced). They are easy to tell apart for the most part; cornsnakes have more narrow, arrow shaped heads whereas ratsnakes have blunter snouts and and much more bulky heads. Size, colouration and patterning is usually a give away too; along with attitude.
The difference is especially easy to see when you compare the two pics in the links below
yellow rat snakes

and an (albeit poor quality) anery stripe cornsnake
