Was only first attempt Tel so don't want to try braining on first go.. I only picked him up thurs so def still settling in.
I've found you can get almost any snake to eat without doing anything special by altering your husbandry, the type of hides or number of hides you provide, type of enclosure etc. Funnily enough I've moved a 5 ft corn who loved the space in a 4ft tank but would only eat every few months to a 2 and half foot tub, thought he'd absolutely hate it, but from the first day of putting him in the tub hes struck fed every time! Alternatively, I've put a royal in a tub (how I keep a few of 'em now) and she won't eat..
I'm a firm believer in any probs with animals are husbandry/health related and a simple rethink of enclosure will sort it out.. but ultimately if the animal ain't hungry..he won't eat..aslong as he is otherwise healthy..its completely natural. I've tried literally hundreds of methods with problem feeders and it's not until you take a step back for a few months, then try offering prey as normal that you realise it really doesn't work and there is underlying issues if it does.
This guy isn't in the best of health being a CF, so my main priority is getting him rehydrated and getting a stool sample asap to check for parasites..unfortunately I need him to feed for that.. so I am only willing to assist feed or try other 'special' methods till hes healthy. Once he is, he will get normal mice or rats once I'm assured he's happy in his enclosure and 100% healthy.
No probs on the suggestion, I am familiar with just about every method about, but it doesn't hurt to suggest just incase, for the benefit of the snake
