1400g is absolutely fine, if anything its good. Remember females must be at least 1500g to breed (but prefferably 1800-2500g) so considering that your male is healthy. My male doesn't feed much either although my female is fine and is fat and healthy. Males often don't get as well built as the females, the females need it so don't worry!

as said he sounds a good weight...i am a bit old school and dont bother with scales etc very much! i go by age and physical condition...if they look act and feel healthy and solid then they most likely are... also as for breeding IMHO i wouldnt breed a female until around 4 years old and when in tip top condition all round...too much emphesis is put on weights with royals which i personaly dont like! at the end of the day if it is a good enough feeder you can get a female up to 1500-2000g in 2 years if you stuff em! but the way i look at it is...just because they are heavy enough it doesn`t mean they are mature enough internaly....always wait that bit longer and get larger and much healthier clutches IMO
