Default Goldfish

I need to move soon as the council has decided to "Regenerate" my area by knocking down my estate (not a bad thing believe me!!)
now i viewed a brand new place on Friday and hopefully i should be moving in the next few weeks.
but.. the new build places are smaller then what i have now so i don't think i will be able to take the 3ft goldie tank
so I'm not sure what to do.
at the moment it contains one very large comet 7"-8" who is my sons first pet and he would be gutted if we had to re-home him but i don't think i have any choice.
Then we have a large common pleco 6"-7"
and 2 other fancy goldfish.
so what I'm looking for is possibly new homes for the large comet and the pleco... i think
i should be able to fit the other two tanks in OK
sorry to waffle on i just don't know what to do any suggestions?????

Thats a difficult one TC. Do you know anyone who can mind the fish for you until you are settled in. After that you can decide how to arrange the layout of your new place.
A tier system would allow you to stack several tanks on a single stand, if floorspace is smaller.
You will only regret getting rid of fish with sentimental value.

Completely agree with him Tina, I got rid of a feather fin syno because I was down sizing. I gave him to an Uncle so I still see the fish sometimes, but it was much nicer when he was in my tank.

I think i have a solution, my best friend who has always wanted fish will now probably be having my big tank!!! have spoken to son and he has agreed because he will see his fish regularly ( i will be doing the water changes every week).

i love a happy ending !

it would have been wrong to let that fry boy look after him as he would have sold him on lol

good luck with the move Tina
i did read if your using a external canister filter then its best to remove the water and transport it dry, the bacteria live better with the oxygen around them ,otherwise they will die off underwater.

hav you got your tank move plan worked out ?

Thanks all, Robert i dont use externals only internals. and no i have not worked out the tank move plan yet!!! i think it should'nt be to bad with just the 2 2ft tanks left.
the 3 ft i can just strip it down and move it all within an hour i will just try to save 50% of the water and replace at the other end. what is the best way to move a large goldfish and pleco? the 2 smaller goldfish can go into fish bags from lfs.

i would say a large plastic bag ,double bag them ! its how they ship them and if you get them from aquatic store they use this method

I have used a old domestic water tank in the past to move a number of fish but they do splash around a bit to much( short distance )

get some bags form the nearedt aquatic shop... even if you have to pay a small fee. i save all my bags for fish moveing
