Default Latest stories in the news about fuel rises

apparently fuel is going to rise again in the summer between 25 and 40%, this was on bbc news (website)

i am serious with this, i am getting anxious about being able to maintain my x3 tanks, or to put it another way, to justify the cost of running over 1,000 litres of water, 3 heaters, 6 light tubes and 7 externals

I know we had a lot of eleccy talk on my other thread, but that was more for general information on costings.

I am actually concerned now!

I keep saying to myself, even if i close a tank down, it will only save me about £5 a week, but everytime the eleccy goes up, that £5 goes up!

I think i am just in a negative mood due to finance pressure, could always do a few more hours at work, after all, a hobby is an investment in yourself really isn't it?

they were talking bout this on the radio this morning, they reckon this time next year the average ammenity bill[gas electric] will have gone up by an average of 46% which they reckon would bring the avg quarterly bill to appx£400good job most of my tanks are at work

it's unreal mate, perhaps we (humans) have been taking energy for granted, or then again perhaps we just getting mugged off as usual

There is a small, small part of me tonight that has been thinking about going to ONE tank (the 5x2x2), but that would be a KILLER, i mean big time gutted if i had to, anyway, i need to get down to maths, sort out what i can afford in the next 6-12 months really

I might go on a big binge of working out exactly how where abouts in my flat i can save on bills (not just fish tanks)

I guess the planted tank would be first to go if worst comes to worst, the lighting costs and all

i actually tried to cancel my mobile phone contract recently (£37 per month) but couldnt, couldnt even downgrade it

i would go without a mobile no problem, and just tell people to email me if they need to, its funny what you can adapt to when you have to, i've had to give up the car, gym membership (i've been going for years) and everything on my TV package excepts the very basics (before i had sports, films etc)

I dont miss any of it, i am working out at home with weights i've always had but never bothered using, i am going jogging when before i couldn't be arsed, couldnt care less about the car to be honest, began to hate driving anyway, and dont miss the extra channels, i watch films on line and grab sport when i can.

I drink about once a week now, rather than 5-6 times a week......

but everytime i save on something, the bloody bills go up elsewhere

TV'S are for people without PC's and fish tanks

Watch films on the PC.

Sell your motor, petrol prices are a joke!

Do away with all these community tanks and start breeding some in demand fish, have 1 community tank and two tanks breeding badboys?

You could turn fish keeping into an earner, breed discus or some crazy L numbers? Even those red rainbows are 15 quid a pop in my LFS.

Get some demijohns in and start making your own booze. (I'll happily come and road test ir for ya)
