Thumbs down The Goldfish Bowl Oxford

I was just wondering if anyone has any dealings with these people?

On their website www.thegoldfishbowl.co.uk it describes "Further down is our impressive display of Flower Horn Cichlids, specially selected for us from Meng Aquarium Center in Malaysia"

Having read this back in January off i travelled from Yeovil with the intention of buying a rather nice FH. On arrival, cutting a long story short, they dont/didnt have ANY FH.

Having enquired reference the website etc the owner asked how much I wanted to spend etc & said he would import me one within 2 - 3 weeks

Here we are virtually in May & it still hasnt arrived
Apparently my FH keeps getting on the plane but has to be off loaded again due to strong winds etc
Am I being spun a yarn? should I give up hoping for it to arrive?

Thank you Tel for your reply. Luckily I havent paid any £ for it. I am just finding it a tad annoying that here we are 16 weeks later & still no sign of it arriving
The last time I phoned the shop I was told " Dont phone us we will phone you"

So I am now in limbo wondering what to do?
Give up? Or pester the life out of them.

Thank you Stingray for taking the time to reply.

I just find it incredibly annoying & frustrating when they still advertise on their site about their "huge display blah de blah"

I drove all the way from Yeovil to Oxford to purchase one. The guy seemed pretty genuine when I explained that I had had a wasted journey etc

I just hate being messed around.
I said i would pay up to about £250 for one. Now if he cant get it etc I just really wish that he would be upfront & say so.
Its awful being in limbo not knowing what to do when you really want to keep your faith in someone.

To be honest I dont know of any specialist shops down this way unless I contact goold old Gareth at Porton Aquatics.

If you have left a deposit and still want the fish ,I would phone the shop insist on speaking to the manager tell him you are fed up with all the rubbish that they have been giving you , and ask him for a definite arrival date for these fish, tell him that it is not good business practice to advertise fish that they have not got , and even worse to keep letting down a customer who was promised these fish in February, if you are then satisfied in the new arrival date, I would then tell him that you will be expecting a substantial discount on these fish ( as a good will gesture ),to make up for all the messing around you have suffered so far , if he is not prepared to offer you some discount then I would demand my money back and keep an eye out for other outlets selling these fish. ( any problems getting your money back phone consumer advice , one phone call from them always works for me .

Stingray, I wanted something "nice". About 6-8" Colour irrelevant but I did want it to have a big "kok"
Yeah before you guys say anything a kok is .......... the big bump on the head
As I said I was willing to pay up to about £250. There are some nice ones on aquabid but they seem to transport mainly to the USA plus I would have no clue on importing etc

Grandad,
Thank you for your advice. I will certainly take it on board. Im just a blonde bimbo at times... dont answer that!
Luckily I havent left a deposit -- I did offer but they said that it was not necessary -- now I know why

Default Update

I have just phoned them again.

Apparently Barry (shop manager) is having problems getting them as they arent popular any more ( View aquabid.com -- they look popular there)

However he is going over to Thailand in August & is going to personally choose me one & get it brought back on the shipment.

Fingers (not legs) crossed after all whats a few more months of waiting

Still in fairness he was very reasonable about it so I cant say any wrong about him I guess
