Talking any legal eagles out there

I went to one of my local lfs 's today and they were having a buy one get one free offer on red sea salt , any way had a look at this and seemed a good buy, red sea salt 25kg buy one get one free RRP £ 79.99 so I bought one and had one free ,put them into the car and went back into the store to have a nose about (as you do )then I had another look at the salt department and discovered they were selling the same red sea salt for £49.99 a tub, when I questioned them about this they said that some people could not afford to buy the salt at the recommended retail price and have one free, so they had cut the price to tailor for them, as they would not then be eligible for the free one ,I told them that to me it seemed a bit crazy to have two prices on the same product and that really it was misleading to say that you are having the second one free when in fact you are having it for £19.99 cheaper than if you bought the two at the cheaper price they waffled a bit but I got nowhere , so what I want to know are they allowed to sell at two different prices and state that you are getting the other one free?(here's a little side note ,The living seas are selling the same salt for 2 tubs for £79.98 delivered to your door.( damn I could have saved a penny there )lol.

Have a chat with someone from trading standards they may have breached some law by doing this I must admit I thought the genuine rrp of redsea salt was £49.99.

It is some form of con or deception whether or not it is actually illegal is a totally different matter but only trading standards could really confirm that.
