i have a lion fish that i am findin very hard 2 feed ne idears

what are you trying to feed him and what other fish have you got with him, how long have you had him ,how big is he, and finally has he ever ate anything you have given him .

may i sugest that you list the foods that you have been feeding and the ways its presented ?

hello thre thanks 4 replyin so quick i was told when i bought him that he was feedin on pellet i then found out that he had a varied diet mainy on dead molley plattys etc and pellet he then got white spot that has gone i used myaxin first that did nothing then i used exodin wich worked well i have had him 4 about 10 weeks he is about10" he has taken 3 white bait no pellet he went realy thin in the gut so i gut loaded 5 black molleys 4 three days on marine pellet he seemed 2 enjoy them but i dont want 2 keep feedin him like that i done that bout 4 day ago he is in with a pink tail trigger

hello dudley, right first of all I would stop feeding him mollies and plattys ,because if they had any diseases then they will give it to him , also I would stop feeding him pellets , what I would start feeding him now is live river shrimp to get him hunting again, turn the lights off your tank and let your trigger settle down, your lionfish should start hunting when it is dark if he is hungry ,drop half a dozen shrimp in front of him and see what happens ,he should be after them like a shot ,dont worry if he does not get them all because as long as you acclimatise them they will live in your tank for a fortnight .as long as your trigger does not get them ,also I would try him with some c-ckles---mussels -krill and some lancet fish if he doesnt take any notice of them dangle them on a bit of cotten in front of him . with all that you have fed him it will take four to five days for him to bother to look for food , so in the future I would feed him less and every two to three days and see how he goes (i am feeding my two dwarf lionfish on river shrimp now until I can ween them onto c-ckles -muscles and lancetfish .hope this helps you ( I am storing my shrimp in a large sweet jar half strenghth saltwater and an airstone so that I can buy 30 or more at a time £3.00 normally . dont forget to feed them if you do the same, I feed mine marine flake and fragmented mussel and c-ckles etc so that when the lionfish eat them they are full of nutrition, I have a 12inch tweezers that I bought especialy for feeding mine frozen later on ,should cost around £4.00 at your local lfs other anotherway is to wiggle it in front of him on a thin accrilic rod , hope this has been helpful to you nearly 3 a m index finger completly worn out lol brian.

Good luck with feeding your lion fish, sorry mate I cant help as i've never kept them. I know how you feel as I have a blind pink tailed trigger that i'm haveing to feed by hand, There's always someone out there willing to help. Let us know how you get on.
