Default dories and nemo.

I was at my local lfs the other day ,( just keeping an eye out what they are offering for sale ) any way, while I was there a lady came in with her 2 daughters ,then came the mammy, mammy can I have them nemo,s and dory? IE clown fish and regal tang. Of course you can the mother said , and called over the assistant ,who promptly caught them and went to the till, the lady paid for the fish, and headed for the exit. something didn't seem quite right to me , so I asked her how long she had had her marine tank ? then came the reply, I haven't got one ,she was going to put them in with her neon's. When I told her if they were lucky they would last in her tank about10 minutes she was horrified she thanked me and promptly took them back to the till and had her money back, the assistant that served her said a half hearted sorry, and off he went. I wonder how many times this has happened ? and how many marine fish ,and inverts, have ended their lives in a freshwater tank? Don't you think that all marine fish retailers should ask the question ,HOW LONG HAVE YOU HAD A .SALTWATER TANK. I had a word with the owner who thanked me . HE said that he would instruct his staff to always ask from now on . hope you found this interesting . grandad.

mad, but common...i saw the same thing happen in a LFS near me,same fish too funny enough...i pointed out the marine thang to customer just before they paid, also witnessed them selling very poor quality discus to another customer who didnt even have a tank, was gonna set one up when he got home,i asked if hed ever kept fish before, no was the answer, after i pointed out the necessary i was promptly set upon by the manager + all his sat boys accusing me of losing him a big sale... after a few expletives + me threatening to smash his shop up i left, never to return ...makes me oh so mad, but dont make me too mad or ill turn green + start stomping! tally ho

i went to my friends house a while ago to find that my lfs had sold her 2 Molly's (a male and female!!) and a very small plastic goldfish bowl and told her they would be fine as long as she changed the water every other day!!!
well as you can imagine i went berserk and went round to complain only to be told that i knew nothing about fish and that Molly's were fine in goldfish bowls and that i should do my research!
( i wouldn't even keep a tadpole in a goldfish bowl)
well i told them that they had had the last penny from me and i would also tell everyone i know how **** they were. i have never been in since.
(the two Molly's are still living quite happy lives in my schools four ft tank)
