the one is a deresa clam and the other one is a maxima clam .I dont feed my tank i add calsuim.strrotinum, iodine and magnesium once a week but carry out a waterchange only about once every 8 weeks and the corals does not like it much.my ph run at 8.20 and goes up to 8.45 in late afternoon and my no3 is about .10 and alk is 11 with calsuim at 500 and my phosfate is at 05 so my hair algea is something off the past.once i had a slight outbreak and i dosed my tank for 3 days with vodka that got rid off the hair algea problem

iodine is essential to keep your xenia alive as long as you dont overdose. If you carry out a weekly waterchange then you will be ok for your elements but as i do it only over long intervals i have to feed the chemicals as i am changing from soft corals to hard corals and some sps ive ordered 2 150watt 6500k for my tank now so i can have more parr to encouge quiker growth for my hard corals.the colour might be more yellow but it is the closest to sunlight you will get

Yeah we haven't really added Iodine much before either. Did once all our purple sponge started to deflate and waste away to virtually nothing but has since gone back to its rampant nature.

Did try vodka for a nitrate problem but it didnt really work but didn't know it sorted out hair algae too. Have got a homemade phosphate reactor so never really tested it.

Nice Sun Coral there. Thats reminds me, a few days ago a fellow reefer was giving away a sun coral as it wasnt doing to well in his tank. He is away a lot of the time so it wasnt getting fed as much as it needed. So we took it and are feeding it up. It has the most enormous polyps I have ever seen on a sun coral. Each head must be about over an inch across. He must of been feeding it steroids before hand! I will take pics when it opens up for a feed tonight.
