Default just saying hi :)

hi, i'm new to the site and have joined because i'm having a few tank problems and amhoping some members would have some sound advice.

The problem is that the tank is 7 months old and i just seem to keep losing fish. it is a marine tank i should have said.
In the last 3-4 weeks i have lost 11 fish from a coral beauty to clowns and a Yellow tang
The test i have done all show a clear tank and the local supplier tested the water and had the same result. i use ro water with reef crystals enriched blend.
any ideas or help would be really appreciated

Default Hello Gregson

Sorry to hear you have lost so many fish.
Can you give us some more details? Were there any external signs on your dead fish such as spots or velvet? Are the losses linked to new additions or water changes? Do you have a uv steriliser or ozone generator? Have you added any treatments to your tank recently?

Default Losing fish and getting down

hi susanagnes and all
ok here goes the details.
I have 150 litre tank with 25 kgs of live rock in it, 4x T5 tubes (2x marine and 2x lifeglo), 2x heaters (in case of breakdown on 1)
2x fluval 205 filters with the filter medium and foam scrubbers, no carbon because we had an initial disaster (lost all the fish 7 of them) and were informed that the carbon had dumped all its waste back into the tank because we hadn't removed it after 2 weeks. Told to put it back in when tank water started to get a yellowish tint ( ?) it hasn't yet !!
We also have a UV on the return side of one of the fluvals.
There are no external signs and the first fish died about 4 days after we bought him. He was an algae eating Blenny, bloody misreable looking so we called him victor.
We have steadily lost fish from then on but they die real quick, literally fine in the morning then 4 hours later dead and half disposed of by the cleaning crew.
Just cant see the problem and starting to get abit down heartened
