Question Tank covers

Hi!
Still in the process of gathering information;
What`s the problem with covering the top, of a marine tank, with glass?Not fixed of course and access enabled.would it not prevent some evaporation/contamination?
Don`t lol at this.....I`m still lernin!

the only prob i can think of is the loss of spectrum from the lighting,with salt water youll find youll get a build up of salt on the glass

The main reason for having a open top reef tank is to get good gas and air exchange, this will help you keep water prams more stable which is what you want in marine, Temp and PH will be alot more stable aswell.

To be honest mate im not sure, the chemistry would be similar i would of thought.
