Yeah just a cheap blue damsel as they are pretty hardy and inexpensive. My first fish in was a pair of Azure Damsels and they are still going well now.

I'd go for fishless cycling instead, much fairer on the fish.

Yeah me too. For freshwater I'd usually leave it for two weeks before adding anything and marine..I think it was nearly 2 months until the damsels went in.

you can use a damsel if you want ,or mollies, but why bother all I did to set up my tanks, was add the sand and some live rock, drop a foodtype prawn in and wait for my ammonia and nitrite to rise and fall , and my nitrates are taken care of by my cellerpa, job done, no stress or death of any fish because I did not use any and I have not got the problem of getting rid of them afterwards.
