I am a new owner of a pond which I have had over a year. I have worked hard trying to establish it, then a blasted heron has decided to visit us, and my poor koi and goldfish have gone. If anyone could help me find some cheap or free fish, I would be most grateful. I am so gutted.

Sorry to hear that.

Are you sure all the fish are gone, and not just hiding? If a heron has visited, any survivors will be very shy and probably hiding under plants or at the bottom. My fish have not seen a heron for about a year and they still hide under things.

There are always free fish offered in the Goldfish, Koi and Ponds section of this site. http://www.aquarist-classifieds.co.u...fish_ponds.php

If you get more fish, make sure the pond is covered so the heron is unable to get at them.

Hope you have better luck with your fish.

Sorry to hear that you were visited by a heron, I was visited once and covered the pond with a net the same day, Its also a deterant to cats who also think twice now.
Hope you get up and running again soon.

As well as netting try streching some fine wire or fishing line on canes or somethng about a fot high around your pond. Herons have difficulty climbimg over this type of obstruction.

Please dont get an imitation heron these very often have the opposite to the desired effect.
