Default My fancytail fish - Alen has a sore pink fin

Hi there, I have just noticed that my fancy tail goldfish has a poorly fin, it is pink and looks very sore, I have added some aquarium salt, and some general tonic to the water in the hope his fin will be improved, has anyone else come across this problem, have done a water change today, last one was last Tuesday. Is this frequent enough?

just keep a eye on the fin/tail

as for the waterchanges it all depends on size of the tank and what percentage of water that you change!

as with any fish tank its allways better to change a little on a regular basis

How big is the tank, and how many fish?

I find Melafix is a very good treatment for things like that.

Alen lives in a 90litre tank and my husband did a 50% water change yesterday, he lives with a little black moor, a little red cap and 2 big goldfish, that my husband had baught on Good Friday, it was a big surprise, and had a big shock when I saw them in the Tank!!! Was not very pleased to be honest, was not planning on buying any more fish. I also have a little tank 30l with 2 little traditional shaped goldfish in. I am wondering if Alen is a little bit stressed, and is the tank overcrouded with 5 fish in? Going back to water change would it be better to do a 10% water change every 2/3 days than a 50% every 5 days?

They are overcrowded. If the 2 big goldfish are commons, comets or shubunkins, they will need to be moved to a pond when they grow.

I think the water change would be better 20% every 2-3 days.
