Default Jellybean Convicts in the 5x2x2

These are not the dyed "jellybeans" that you sometimes here about, it's my understanding that mine are what's actually known as short-bodied convicts, a cross between a convict and a parrot, but this is also known as a Jellybean Convict.

If you dont like hybrids, p*** off, sorry, i meant, look away now.

In the last piccy is my Sajica.

The Jellybean Convicts have spawned, this is not the first time, they used to a proper little pair until i introduced a female convict, then Mr Jellybean ran off with the female convict and i am trying to raise their fry now.

Peter now has the female convict and Mr Jellybean has gone back to Mrs Jellybean as evidenced by these pics.

The male is the one with the gorgeous fins.

Yep they will breed with Sajica's i imagine Tash, they do get a little fiesty during breeding, as they are part Convict at end of the day!

However, because of their small size they don't really cause any damage, the male is about 1.5" and the female just over 1"

They will both attack my big parrot if he goes near the pot with the eggs in. The Parrot is about 6" long and 2" wide, but it's almost like they are pecking him, the big parrot hardly feels it LOL, although he does respect their wishes and moves away from the eggs!

well the hybrids from him and your female seem to be okay in the plastic tank, doing 25% w/c x2 daily and x3 small feeds per day to increase growth.

I did count x14 in there two days ago, i'll have a clear out tomorrow and count how many there is, whatever is left (hopefully 10 or so) should make it now. Although having a fluval 1 in such a small tank, even with a net over it to stop them getting sucked up isn't ideal, a bit too much flow, good for water quality, but i am not sure its great for egg-born fry so young, have put a few pots in there to help facilitate some spots where the flow is less.

finger's crossed
