AWESOME fish! my favourite freshwater fish! mine was a monster! lol...if introduced small they will mix with malawis, but be VERY cautious as these are HIGHLY aggressive! mine would attack me through the glass! and cleaning time was fun too! although as a rule they (mostly) leave fish smaller than themselves alone as they dont see them as a threat.....but still have their off days where they may decide to cull a few malawis off lol...

well, they would most likely be okay in terms of water parameters, they are Afrian fish like Malawi, although their natural habitat has water that is not as hard or high in pH as where Malawi's are found.
they are omnivores, so dietary wise they could mix with some types of Malawi
but, but, but at the end of the day, from what i understand of these fish, i would not mix them with Malawi, unless it was some bigger malawi that could handle the aggression, but even then, seems a gamble.

well if i were you i wouldnt go back to that shop again except to buy food cause they dont have a clue, you may get away with buttis while theyre bout 2-3" but after that watch out,if completely destroying ya tank isnt bad enough they'll kill any other fish in the tank with em, you may get someone say" mine was ok" but this is far from the norm'...think lean mean killing machine + you wont be far off

lol i cant think of any malawis that could handle the wrath of a 16-18in TB lol...but as i say MOST will leave smaller fish alone (not too small or they may well become a snack)....i tried a few big aggressive fish with mine and he literaly dessimated them within minuites! (lucky i watched and got them straight out) but i did have to put him in a big malawi set up temporarily for a few weeks as his tank cracked and he did for the most part leave them alone...and did little more than chase them about a bit...
