I have inherited a 80cm x 35cm x 46cm tank which currently has rubbish lighting in it. I have a malu anenome, another unidentified along with some various soft corals and fish. What lighting would the experts out there suggest? I really need help as I am sooo confused!

Thats what i have Arcadis T5's 2 white 2 blue. Other than that you go halide which is in another price range completely.

With the anemone halide would be best but a bank of T5's should do the trick.

You are the exception to the rule johnlakehouse anemonies are a pretty poorly understood beast at the best of times. I am aware that anemones when in good water conditions are able to survive whilst the symbiotic algae adapts to the lower light levels equally the anemone may have been collected from quite deep waters.

Generally anemones require intense lighting that can only be given by metal halides.

Hi Laura, if u go down the T% route 2 or 3 whites to one blue has been proven to be the best ratio for coral growth etc. However, I have found from my own experiences that using two T8 (standard 1") triplus/triton tubes with one blue moon/blue moon plus with reflectors works just as well. It means you can re-use your light starters/choke units too... good luck!
