Get some turbo snails, red leg hermits, sifting starfish.... crabs in general seem to be a good crew. Arrow crabs can be good clearing up small bristleworm. Sea Hairs are quite good as part of a crew but have a tendancy to pull themselves over corals as i found out.
Hope this helps.

Are turbo snails tempremental as i have found a few dead in my tank while others carry on cleaning?
I'm wondering if small bristleworm get into the shells and kill them?
anyone have any ideas why? |

Sometimes hermits need ot grow and steal the shells of turbos, so its always a good idea to ask the LFS if they have any empty large hermit shells you can put in your tank. |

No there are not being taken over..... there are other shells in the tank for them to crawl into and look around.
Unless they try... kill the snail then think... maybe not!
I just find them.... dead, still inside?

if they land on there back, they can die, sometimes fish peck at them and they fall off the glass and land on there back. The ytry and rescue themselves but slowly die. if you see one on their back turn them over and put them on a secure rock. |

Thats probably the likely reason..... many thanks niac.

One thing to be carefull of when mixing hermits and turbos is the risk of the hermit predating on the snails generally turbos are untouched but if you want to nausarius or cerith snails forget the hermits and go for an all snail clean up crew and a tang. Or a redspot flymo goby. |

turbos are very prone to osmotic shock so give them plenty of time to aclimatise spend about 2 hours to be on the safe side.
Sand sifting stars are also good as well as sea urchins if your tank is big enough and brittle stars, take care with serpeant stars some will actively hunt fish I caught mine doing it once so I now feed it regularly it seems to keep this tendancy in check. |
