Goldfish Lonely? |

Hi I have had 2 Goldfish for 5 years now, they started off in a bowl and have gradually been given a bigger tank everytime I have moved house. They now have large tank of thier own but don't seem to have adapted very well.
They have been in the new tank for 3 months but tend to stay together at the bottom rather then swimming around like they used to.
Can anyone give me any advide about what to do? I thought about introducing some new fish to give them some company but don't know if this is the right thing to do and if so what type?
Please help. |

hi matt COLDWATER fish should really be at a temp of 69-71 most will survive at higher temps but this is not ideal mate! do ya have em near a radiator or window[sunlight]if so id move em if poss'this could be why ya fish are listless ya could try a few floating plants or getting a good powerhead on full flow for a while [gets em moving]has ya tank gotta lid with light if so try taking lid off will help to cool down tank[lets heat escape]hope this helps a wee bit mate |

Hi, Its just a warm apartment. They aren't near a radiator (I have under floor heating) or direct sunlight. They were always ok before at this temperature in the old tank (a Bio Orb) so I don't think thats the problem.
They do move around its just that they stay in one corner rather then swimming around the tank like I assumed they would.
Could you reccommend any other inhabitants to put in with them that won't upset them? - They have lived on thier own as a pair for 5 years. |
