Posted March 2006 Free £50 Voucher Competition
28-02-2006
15:47 by Webmaster
Win a £50 Atlantis Aquatics voucher with our free and easy competition.
28-02-2006
16:02 by webmaster

The competition is for you to decide how you would spend your winning £50 voucher at Atlantis Aquatics. Our friends at Atlantis have offered this gift to the person with his/her shopping list selected at random at end of March. Simply visit Atlantis Aquatics, and decide how you would spend £50. Use this forum thread to tell us. No rush, this is for the month of March. At the end of the month, we will select at random one listed here, and you will get the £50 voucher - couldn't be easier! If it takes off, we may be able to offer this monthly. When receiving the voucher, you can spend it how you wish at the Atlantis online store. Webmasters decision final, UK only, blah, blah, blah ... Last entry counts per person, previous ones disregarded. Simply tell us on this forum thread:

(a) How you would specifically spend £50 at Atlantis Aquatics

(b) Other products that you would like Atlantis to stock.

oh yeah, thanks webmaster, as i was wanting a comp anyway i think i should win it and man would i make use of it, i would start off with getting a big ol bottle of melafix cos although its great stuff its a little bit expensive, also the plug protector thing, looks pretty good, some more silicon and an under gravel heating cable. i would like to see a better selection of freshwater books too and maybe aquariums, oh those new clip on arcadia lights for smaller tanks. that all
28-02-2006
17:07 by webmaster
steegee, thanks for being first. can you be more specific, list it like a shopping list menu such as:

API Melafix 480ml £12.15
Twin 13 amp plug protector £4.23
Rena Cor Heating Cable 15w 3.5m £31.44

if i won the £50 voucher i would put it towards the money i've been saving for a new bigger and better RO unit for my angels
28-02-2006
17:40 by kell
I would spend the voucher on a Fluval 104 £44.98 for my goldfish, Ive been looking for one but they are so expensive.

I would like atlantis to stock aquarium plants, because all the lfs round here have a really poor selection of plants, amd I need loads more variaty. (very unusual idea for a competition, but a good one, thumbs up from me)
28-02-2006
18:06 by webmaster
pmnewbury yours doesn't count yet, can you make it more specific such as :
Merlin 600 Gallon a day Ro Unit £304.33

we want to know the model and price. sorry to be pedantic.
28-02-2006
18:24 by Adrian Grand
If i won i would spend the voucher on:
wormer plus 100 gallon pack £4.49
discus spawning cone £7.99
kent blackwater expert £7.58
diskusin 3 pack £14.24
discus delights £14.98

I would like atlantis aquatics to stock a range of co2 plant equipment

28-02-2006
20:44 by Dagda

21:01 by Danny Boy
a gag for ed @ £1.99 and you can keep the rest, theres no price for peace a quiet
28-02-2006
21:54 by Stuart Martin
I would have to buy this, have you tried keeping 2 of the most disrespectful to food Oscars???

Aquarium Power Gravel Cleaner £25.85

Then some of this to help balance the water after feeding , like a chimps tea party.

Seachem Cichlid Trace 250ml
£7.89

I would then spend the rest on some good old treats for my fish, they can make as much mess as they want 'cos now I can clean the mess.

Cheers

23:02 by Ed

01-03-2006
22:22 by dannyp
I would spend my £50 on some marine books so i can find out what i am going to be getting myself into when i sort a tank out. Reef secrets hard cover £25.34, The successful reef aquarium £16.87 and Reef fishes, a pocket guide £19.40 will do for starters.
01-03-2006
23:09 by jackm
my 50 big ones would go towards either a RO unit as i am currently paying insane money for ready salted, ro water or maybe some beter lighting, halides would be excelent.

a suggestion would be a 150w metal halide unit and some protein skimmers, unless i am being a complete numpty but i cant see them anywhere, also maybe make the website slightly easir to use???
02-03-2006
14:25 by thomasbutler

This site keeps getting better and better. Now a competition! I officially love u guys!
Well as a struggling marine biology graduate I keep my marine tank to keep my passion alive during this slow period of work!
I would love a TMC Vecton 8w UV Aquarium Steriliser and of course I can pay the balance!

03-03-2006
12:45 by Danny Boy
competition aside its a very good idea this. everyone wins. except me...
03-03-2006
12:47 by laura
Whoops! The picture was bigger than I thought, I am sorry I would love the site to sell those under water veggie grips/weights.
03-03-2006
14:20 by Andrea Downs
This is quite exciting - choosing your prize before you know whether you've actually won! I would choose:
Tropical Freshwater Fish DVD £15.26
Power Gravel Cleaner £25.85
Holiday Feeding Block £2.94
Tropical Flake Food 50g £5.44

I couldn't find a 'breeding box' suitable for livebearers fry.
03-03-2006
17:11 by webmaster
laura, how come you haven't done an intro profile page, so we can know you better. simply start a new topic and select the members category.

the other girls; samantha, linda, von, debs, kay, kell, penny and dee (we wont count edwina) could welcome some more female support.

hey, we all thought fishkeeping was a male speciality ...
03-03-2006

Danny, are you revealing your true identity there?

Did i say thanks for the sniper tip - just saved a few hundred pounds on a big purchase. thanks
04-03-2006
07:34 by lisa uk
i would like to choose:

04-03-2006

I would choose 2 x Lifeguard Little Temperature Alert at £22.98 each, total £45.96, then a pack of Tetra Prima min-granules for £3.78, bringing the total to £49.74.
04-03-2006
11:59 by chris east
if i won ,it would be a hydor eth 300watt external thermal heater....price £49.48,and i,ll donate the 52 pence to charity, arent i generous
04-03-2006
15:43 by goeshere
I would choose:

Fluval 204 £49.98

Simply because on my current aquarium the fish insist on trying to breed on the bottom of the internal filter (every couple of weeks), which makes maintenance difficult. I spent £50 adding rocks with holes and cave like features to the tank and still they find the bottom of the filter preferable.
04-03-2006
18:29 by yanton
goeshere, you can also try internal SERA power filters - they are superb - just sponge and no outer casing, so youngsters dont get sucked into the filter.
04-03-2006
23:25 by goeshere
How do you connect up those sponge filters? Just connect them to an air pump or what exactly?
05-03-2006
07:49 by yanton
goeshere, check out the forum topic: viewtopic_2401.php

they are all in one sponge internal power units. i find them superb, you can see when they need cleaning.

sorry to hi-jack the thread webmaster.

09:32 by Raphael
I would spend it to chip in towards a matal halide system for my new marine set up. Please chose me, I'm only 13 and trying to save every penny for my 60 gallon marine set up.
05-03-2006
09:39 by webmaster
Raphael, selection is purely random.
You need to be specific with your selection, with model and price - to qualify for the free draw, like:
Fluval 204 £49.98

Atlantis want to get you all familiar with their website, in order to introduce their services to you all. Hence the requirement to be specific by looking through their site.
05-03-2006
10:31 by Raphael
I would use the £50 to chip in towards the 250w Metal Halide Lighting Unit - £149.99 for marine set up.
05-03-2006
10:45 by diane
I would spend my £50 on

digital temperature alert £43.98
Brime shrimp strainer 5.98

05-03-2006
11:24 by goeshere

I looked on this site for UK suppliers but the link doesnt sell them.
05-03-2006
11:41 by Raphael
I saw a nice background in maidenhead aquatics in Enfield.
05-03-2006

Amazing! A competition to win Atlantis Aquatics goodies, and I thought my day could not get any better!

Well there is so much fantastic dry goods and amazingly high quality live stock for sale that this would be too tricky for me to handle by my self. I would have to e-mail a picture of my new reef display and get one of those knowledgeable guys from Atlantis Aquatics to help me out…

….or it is possible that I might just purchase a DERESA 7.5 – 8.5 cm CLAM, for only £44.99 (including VAT at 17.5%)

plus…
…2 x FISH, CORAL AND REPTILE HEAT PACK for only £1.94 each! (including VAT at 17.5%) as I’m taking some home breed Pterapogon kauderni on a road trip to their new quarters.

And that still leaves me with £1.13!

I would love to see Atlantis Aquatics stock some ZOOLIFE products, such as Calanus,
Whole Leaf Nori Blade
Colourfin Daily use Reef Gel

(but then they’d just be too perfect!)
12-03-2006
18:18 by Jonny
I would buy test kits, medicines and all treatments for my fish also i would like to see more products for freshwater tropical fish on the Atlantis aquatics website. thanks

Reef Fishes Vol 1 Hard Cover

Dr John E Randall

RRP £55.00

My order would be as follows:-
Seachem Cupramin 250ml £14.84

Magfloat Long £7.48
ZM100 30gm £4.98
ZM200 30gm £4.98
Black aquarium silicon 310ml £7.99

I would recommend the following products are added:-
AP individual test kits (in addition to master kits)
New Life Spectrum fish foods
Kent Cichlid Essential (trace elements)
1kg pack of sodium bicarbonate
1kg pack of magnesium sulphate
(for Rift Lake fishkeepers like me who don't buy proprietary cichlids salts.)
Hope that helps

can she enter the competition?
23-03-2006

no problem samantha, it will be good to have some usa hobbyists on the forum.

but, they would have to buy from atlantis aquatics if they won, so they would need to select lightweight items that could be sent abroad safely.
