Posted RO UNIT TEMPERATURES??

I now have my new RO unit from
ro-man. Its the dogs danglies!!

100gph 6 stage with DI pressure meter and TDS meter.

I am not keen on putting this under the sink and want to put it outside on an outside tap.

The unit comes with a connection to tap straight into the water mains but i want to use my old connector which was on the end of the inlet pipe on my old RO unit which just screws up to my outside tap.

I'm assuming that its all the same setup?

My other question is in the winter if its that cold and the RO unit freezes does this damage the unit..... either by expansion and cracking or damage the memb?

I know this may well be running constantly so freezing may not happen...... but has anyone had the same worry?

Would most of you rig it to the pipes under the sink?

Where does the waste pipe go for the RO unit?

How do you reduce the risk of overflow in your kitchen with RO water?

cheers all...

i would definitely not site your r.o unit outside it will freeze running water or not i would make room for it elsewhere in the kitchen by running a length of the plastic pipe to it.as for the waste i put mine into the outlet under the sink though i should use it for the garden

I agree, the water will freeze, also your water output will reduce as the membrane efficantcy cant spell soz... is affected by temp... It tells you this in the instructions. I sited mine under the sink, told wife ll under there had to go, but made room for her stuff. Connected waste onto the sink waste using the clamp cutter that comes with ya kit. Oh and dont forget its on, I have several times and flooded the kitchen and made the wife

thanks willuk....

Lasy thing i need is to make the wife

I did read about the temp drop slwing the rate down but could live with that, but do not want to damage it!!!

I will place it under the sink.... just not sure what i am going, although i'm guessing its easy once you start installing it.

All you need to do is drill a small hole in the waste pipe off your sink (follow the instructions).

For the feed to the unit turn your mains water off and then fit the saddle valve on to the cold water mains pipe again following the instructions, I use the needle valve as a tap no problems.

Only turn the thing on when you are producing water it does not need to be left running the membrane will stay wet in this set up and only run it when it is supervised to be on the safe side.

The good thing about the higher gpd out put is the fact that it doesn't take so long to fill a bucket. I normally start filling a bucket on a Friday when I get home from work and during the summer the bucket is full before I go to bed and in the winter I just finish topping it up in the morning ready for a water change on the Saturday.

I use a 10 gallon bucket.

It is easier to fit than a shelf on a wall just read the instructions carefully this was the first bit of plumbing I ever attempted and it took me 5 minutes.

Admittedly I'm willing to give any old bit of DIY a go as I'm skint hence I replaced the hot water cylinder in my house and 3 radiators on the same day plumbing isn't difficult it just takes the balls to try it.

Seriously plumbing in an RO unit is a doddle.

The advice here for your new RO is first class.
I am surprised that RO Man has not supplied drawings for differing installations, you should send them an email, as any reputable company selling a piece of kit like this will have full installation instructions.

They do provide full instructions I have the same model minus the meters, their RO units are top notch equally their customer service is spot on to.
